George Woodvine was apprenticed at Horsehay and became Simpson's assistant. He and Woodvine joined Alley at Polmadie and later assisted in the establishment of the Sentinel Waggon Works in Shrewsbury where he became General Manager and then Managing Director.He became Simpson,s chief assistant by 1900, lived and worked at Horsehay until1903, when he was invited to go to Polmadie. He returned to Shrewsbury in 1915 to find a suitable site for a new works. His son Reginald, at the age of 15, to find accomodation for workers who were moving south.

In loving memory of my dear husband George Woodvine M.B.E. who passed over April 21st 1946. Also of Lucy Ann beloved wife of the above who passed over Dec. 12th 1949.1
